Just got a quick question as to what you guys feel is the best student accomodation in Bradford? Personally from my experience it has to be Forster Halls mainly for the security side that they offer and always someone there 24hrs a day. Plus the fact it has a free gym as well is a definate plus and handy as well.
I actually have been wondering this myself. I will hopefully be attending the uni in Sept. and I was looking into living in Forster. Have you been inside or lived there?
I'd recommend Forster Halls too. I've spent my First Year at Dennis Bellamy and have not enjoyed them. The university halls are appalling. The only other hall I would recommend is Revis Barber (Laisteridge Lane, CRM) as they are almost as good as Forster Halls for security, but there is nothing else in the package I'm afraid.
I stayed in Arkwright Halls this year and would highly recommend it. Similar to Forster Halls, as you get 24hr security. The halls are nicely furnished and have quite a homely feel. Only downside is that you have to pay extra for the gym!
am 4 arkwright too av had a glance n i like it. ensuit shower n toilet wiv dressing sink, notice board chair n table, enaff space for books n single bed... not the best bed u can hav but oioi thats uni not a hotel lol bt ye i liked it ...........................erm do u knw any thing about paying for internet tho coz apparently u have to pay 250 qwid for a year towards internet access thats tyt.
The security at the uni halls is awful. I live next to Neale and have to disagree with him about RBH - security across all the halls here is terrible, really lax (think front doors left open or broken, and people being let in regardless of whether they live here or not). Also avoid the new Malik halls as they've been broken into already. Kexgill are secure, and in an excellent location, but I would not recommend them because of the management there and I've rarely seen security actually on the door. And I don't know much about Wardley House, the 11-storey halls above the media museum, though they're in a similar price bracket to Forster and don't have a free gym.
So yes you are looking at Forster or Arkwright if more than basic security is important to you. Forster on that basis is cheaper but Arkwright is closer to campus and to the city.
I'm coming to the Uni this Sept, but can't seem to make up my mind between Foster & Akwright ! I prefer Akwright, but there are too many extra charges (gym,TV & Internet) I would really need the free gym and pool
